EDIT 752 – Design and Implementation of Technology Based Learning Environment
Description:
Students design and produce multimedia/hypermedia applications based on current theory and research in instructional design and cognitive science. Examine user needs, information models, structure, and media selection and use to inform design and production of final project.
Reflections:
This course was a continuation of the design process that we began in EDIT 732. In EDIT 732, we collected data to design the augmented reality mobile application game. The project culminated in a non-working prototype. In EDIT 752, we tested a working prototype using Adobe Captivate on a group of students and interviewed them about the game. The results from these interviews resulted in a second iteration of design. After the prototype was modifed according to the end users’ feedback, we conducted usability testing and video-recorded the participants. The results from the usability testing resulted in a third iteration of design. This whole cycle of design culminated in a working prototype that had underwent several design cycles. Below is a graphic representation of the design cycle that we followed to complete this project.
Again this course was very essential in clarifying to me the instructional design process and the different data collection methods that could be employed in refining any design of a technology tool or even a program. Consequently, this course and EDIT 732 engaged us in a real project management situation where each of the team members was the lead on a part of the design project that involves his/her expertise. The learning that developed through the collaborative work was very efficient and integral to my program of study.
Our design process is outlined in the documents below.
