Current Professional Work

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching ESL since 2001, and throughout my career, I have alleviated  my teaching expertise by attending workshops and taking education courses in my MA, MS and Ph.D. programs. I have had the chance to teach elementary and middle school students as well as college students. My teaching experience and the courses that I have been taking for my Master’s degree and PhD have emphasized my role as a leader and a designer. In fact, I learned that every lesson or course must be tailored to fit a particular group of students which in turn has got varied talents and needs. Now I think more as a designer and a facilitator of learning rather than a provider of information.

In addition, my new position as a content-based instruction designer has granted me the opportunity to design learning materials that meet the needs of ESL learners in their freshmen year. The design of the material would not be possible haven’t I had the skills of analyzing the learners and their needs to design tailor fit learning material.

Webtycho Online Training

Last Summer I had the opportunity to take an online course on the best practices of online learning and how to be an effective instructor. It was a great learning experience to me because I had the chance to be guided through effective strategies to teach an online course and establish online presence as an instructor.

Consulting

I have conducted a 3 day training with a colleague to introduce staff and faculty at a University in Lebanon to online learning and best practices. The main goal of the training  included but was not limited to best practices in an online environment, technology tools to support the learning, activities, and preparing students to learn in an online environment.
